There is a new lock (Unsecure/Secure) inside each of the classroom doors. Please tell your child(ren) NOT to touch this lock. Once the lock is turned to the Secure position the door is in a locked state. This means if the door is shut no one can enter the classroom unless someone inside the classroom opens it. If no one is in the classroom all personal belongings are locked in. Turning the safety lock back to the Unsecure position does not reset the door. Only the custodian can reset the lock with his key. These new locks were installed for teachers to quickly secure a room if the school declares a lockdown to prevent intruders from entering the classroom.
