READ-A-THON is Back

The WCS PTO continues to sponsor the Summer Read-a-thon to encourage WCS students to keep learning during the summer.

Signature log is attached.  Please put your child’s English name and your child’s class for next fall (September, 2020) on the form.

Major prize: collect 40 signatures
Minor prize: collect 20-39 signatures.

For the reading log, fill in (write) one line per day regardless of the number of activities. Click on the link below for the reading log.

For each day (signature), a student must complete at least 15 minutes of one or more activities.  For example, reading more than one story or reviewing more than one lesson from the bilingual program is alright.

Students who have homework assigned over the summer may include completing homework assignments as part of their 40 days of activities.

The PTO suggests the following for students who cannot yet read Mandarin:

Watch Chinese language instructional videos.

Watch Chinese language cartoons and other Chinese videos.

Listen to Chinese language CDs.

Bilingual students:  Listen to CDs and review lessons from bilingual textbooks.
